Overview

Kinisia is an artful VR journey through a mysterious forest on Oculus Quest. As you wake up, you gain teleportation powers that let you glide between glowing clearings, where forest creatures serenade you with classical music each time you cast your wand.

What I did

  • Reimagined teleportation to feel intuitive and immersive—players always know where they're heading, with feedback that hits just right.

  • Handled level building using prefabs in Unity, placing guiding wisp waypoints and defining interactive triggers for flow and discovery.

  • Ported VR tech from Oculus Rift to Quest, collaborating with artists and coders to optimize performance—no forest chugs allowed.

  • Cleaned up shaders, implemented occlusion culling, and batched dynamic assets using custom tools—making the forest feel alive without sacrificing framerate.

  • Shaped the opening scene, working with the director to make the teleportation power-up feel magical and inviting.

  • Crafted particle effects—sparkly and ethereal—for both the teleportation magic and the creatures’ appearances using a custom attractor tool.

  • Onboarded a new artist, offering guidance and direction to help them bring the world to life.

  • QA-tested levels, hunting glitches and optimizing performance so exploration stayed smooth and serene.
