Description

Kinisia is an art music exploration game for mobile VR (Oculus Quest), where players explore a mysterious forest. You wake up in the middle of a forest and are granted the ability to travel around using teleportation. throughout your journey, you are treated by forest creatures playing classical music when you swing your wand.

My official role on the project

  • Game Designer

What I did

Game Design

  • Redesigned teleportation traveling so players had clear and better feedback so they know where they are aiming.

  • Implemented redesign of teleportation travel into the existing framework.

  • Assisted the director in visioning the start experience where the player is granted the power of travel.

  • Gave feedback on the script for a new project that was in development.

  • Onboarded a new artist to the project and directed her in her tasks.

Level Design

  • Building levels from prefabs in Unity.

  • Setting up guiding-wisp way-points and behavior.

  • Setting up and tweaking triggers and events using a custom trigger and event system.

Technical art

  • The game was ported from Oculus Rift to Oculus Quest, so I worked closely with the programmer and artists to identify and solve performance challenges.

  • Researching, testing, and setting up different project settings.

  • Researching shader best practices and cleaning up the project by merging and deleting unnecessary shaders.

  • Batching dynamic 3D assets using customized tools.

  • Researching and setting up occlusion culling.

VFX

  • Created and implemented particle effects for when the player gets their traveling abilities, using a customized particle attractor tool (start of the game).

  • Created and implemented the particle effects for when the forest creatures appear.

QA

  • Tested levels and reported bugs and performance issues to relevant teams.
